What are some creative ideas for scrapbooking for school?

I have an assignment for school, and it requires scrapbooking. Though, I want it to make it more creative and colorful. What kind of things should I buy to make it look better?

Thanks

Find your local scrapbook store and wander. I had a project like this in high school and it was that assignment that got me hooked to scrapbooking for life. We had to photographically journal the history of our area. We took the pictures we needed to prove the history, then we went to the library and printed out microfiche newpaper articles from the 1860s and so on. Crumpled the paper, stained with tea, and added to the appropraite pages. Depending on the project, most craft and scrapbook stores have stamps and stickers and papers that cam help to embellish your words (Which I’m guessing you have to have to prove whatever point you are making), and those embellishments will make it more creative and colorful.

Keep in mind, the more creative it is, the liklihood is greater that the cost will be higher. If you’re willing to spend the extra time and money working on this project, I fully support the idea. But remember that the creativity will NOT replace making sure the details are full and correct, so make sure that you are "right" before you embellish. Your teacher will LOVE the extra effort, and you’ll always have that assignment to look back on as a great project.

Good luck!

What are some moving away ideas?

I am moving away and I don’t have the money to throw a party for my moving away and my friends don’t got the money either. I don’t want to aks my parents cause they’ll say no. Anyway, I want to do something to remember my friends by. I was thinking about taking pics of my friedns and putting it in a scrapbook and then all their info and the good times I had with them. Is that a good idea? 3 questions. 1. Is the scrapbook a good idea? If so help me with some cheap places to get scrapbooks and scrapbooking stuff with less than $20.00. 2. Have any better ideas about going away gifts? If so please state them. 3. ANyway to raise money quickly. I just found out I might be moving i less than a wk. and I need to make money quick. Real Quick!! Thanks!

http://www.freecycle.org/

Go to the above website, type in the name of the area you live in, and it will show the groups closest to you. Join one (it’s free!) then you can place a WANTED request, and if someone has what you need and they want to get rid of it, they’ll contact you and let you know, and you can arrange to pick it up. I think you have to make an OFFER before you can request something. Everything is FREE, no cost to the giver or the receiver. It’s really great! You can request everything from flip-flops to furniture, curtains to cars, etc.!! (No porn, no drugs, no alcohol, etc.) You might be able to furnish your new place completely from things you get through freecycle! I’ve used it for almost two years, it’s really great!!

The scrapbook is a great idea. If you do place a request on freecycle, you might word it something like:

WANTED – *****(your zip code, or however YOUR freecycle group says to list your area), scrapbook and scrapbooking supplies

Then in the big box, type in why you are wanting them … to keep the memories of your going-away, etc. People respond better when you give them a good reason to! Most people on freecycle are there because they like to be helpful and resourceful.

Good luck!

What are some unique ideas for a baby scrapbook?

I was wondering if anyone had any unique/cool ideas for a baby scrapbook. I already have some basic ideas, but I was wondering about some more. Thanks!

I echo the idea on the wrapping paper. For one of my showers for my first, a lady gave me a homemade hooded bath towel wrapped in bathtime wrapping paper. I took the paper and just used if for the page layout and used pics from that shower to decorate. It was very easy… no ironing needed. :)

Another thing I really love is preprinted pages. I know you might be thinking – how un-unique is that!! BUT it saves you a ton of time and you can still embellish them to whatever degree you choose. The brand I love is Aimee J Inc. I tend to go way overboard when it comes to the number of pics I want to include resulting in a huge number of pages. The printed pages help to keep things going and focused so I don’t lose track of what I wanted to accomplish. :)

I’m going to try this idea myself… take a bunch of pics of your baby’s eyes, ears, toes, fingers, hairline… etc. memories you want to capture and make them into 1-2 in. squares to form a chunky border on your 12×12 page then put a full baby pic in the main area of the page and embellish as you like. I waited for Michael to fall asleep and tried this. Hint – make sure your flash is off – my pics came out better without it. :) Have fun!!!

What books are good for scrapbooking beginners?

I’m new to scrapbooking and want to create a nice baby scrapbook. I already have an A3 book to fill but I want help with layouts, materials etc. A baby centered book is not necessary but if anyone could recommend a beginners book, and maybe a book that has some easy to follow ideas for layouts I would be very grateful :)

scrapbooking can be intimidating when you are just starting out, but it doesn’t have to be. There are a few books that would be a great help to beginning scrapbookers.

A few of my favorites are "The Big Picture" by Stacy Julian, "Creative Sketches" by Becky Higgins, and "Scrapbook Page Maps" by Becky Fleck. They are not specific to baby scrapbooking and are wonderful for jumpstarting your scrapbook pages on any theme, because once you start you won’t want to stop!

I also have a site devoted to scrapbooking with many areas related to beginners. You are welcome to check it out.

Good luck to you, and congratulations on the new baby!
